Krypton Chloride (KrCl) excimer lamps, also known as Far UVC 222nm lamps, are proving to be an effective solution to this problem. Far UVC lamps can efficiently inactivate pathogens such as coronaviruses and influenza in air, making it a promising technology in combating the spread of airborne diseases.

The utilization of Far UVC 222nm lamps for disinfection purposes is unique because of its ability to kill microorganisms while being safe for human exposure. A study conducted in a room-sized chamber demonstrated that Far UVC reduced the pathogen load by 98.4% at a room ventilation rate of 3 air-changes-per-hour (ACH) and with 5 filtered sources, providing an additional 184 equivalent air changes (eACH).

The use of Far UVC 222nm lamps in various settings such as animal hospitals, pet stores, pig farms, and food processing plants can significantly prevent the spread of diseases, which can be fatal to animals and disrupt production activities. Far UVC 222nm lamps offer an opportunity to control the spread of airborne diseases in these hygienic-focused industries.
